Plus it's nice seeing other players hanging out in the open world, which in general feels really alive. These races are hectic, with 64 real players all rocketing along in a swarm that makes it hard to see yourself! You have to sign up to these via a billboard in the main hub world, but they are totally worth it. You can play offline in Zen mode, but you won't be able to unlock new gear or participate in a Mass Race. And, like The Crew 2, there's a big open world to explore, and a focus on online play. The racing is quite arcadey, and reminds me heaps of The Crew 2 - except this time there's quite a few races with multiple disciplines, taking you from a bike to a wingsuit, for example. Or sometimes you'll find yourself in a silly costume, or even on a rocket bike! There's a few different types of events, including downhill dirt biking - which was definitely my favourite, flying wingsuits - which I was shockingly bad at and found really hard to control, and snow sports where you can pull sick tricks. Over the top silly fun is the name of the game. It's so over the top, but because it feels like it's poking fun at itself the whole time it's just a lot of silly fun. The story isn't all that deep, or important, but it's nicely fleshed out with really polished cutscenes. You play as a newcomer to the riding scene, who is trying to prove themselves as one of the greats. Riders Republic is all about extreme sports, but turned up to 11. RAD It's time to hit the slopes, dirt, and sky in the new racing game, Riders Republic! ![]()
